The tarp I made to keep out the rain. Notice the dark
thunderclouds. This was during the Arizona monsoon
              season.

Inside the observatory. The table drops in place.

       the floor is attached.
September 22, 1979. My trip to Mt. Graham with my trusty 1963 Mercury Comet. 9,000 feet elevation. I wanted to setup in a nice dark sky site but the atmosphere did not cooperate. On this particular weekend an unusual amount of air pollution from California rolled in which caused an increase in light pollution.

At the May 1983 RTMC my portable observatory got an honorable mention. The following year Ernie William showed up with this version of a portable observatory. Notice that the material he used looks very similar to the material ACE Dome used years later.
At the 1986 RTMC Ernie brought his new version of a tent portable observatory. He had the top modified so that the top of the tent could be zipped open.

Ernie is in his observatory tent.
