My goal for many years was to get into photometry. I attended nearly all IAPPP
(later to become SAS, Society for Astronomical Sciences) meetings since the
late 1980's that were held in Big Bear Lake, California just a few days prior to
the Memorial Day weekend. What a fantastic weekend that always was,
attending IAPPP/SAS and then driving about 10 miles to Camp Oaks to attend
RTMC (the Riverside Telescope Maker’s Conference). I sure miss them.

Dick and Helen Lines, well known husband and wife photometrists, told
me of a used photometer for sale in Montana, a Starlight-1. I bought it and
sent it to Robert Wolpert, the founder of the Starlight-1, for cleaning and
alignment of the light path. However, for a number of reasons (work, building
the observatory and dome on weekends, and not having the proper telescope)
I hardly used it. Then in 2005 my situation changed. My real interest is
spectroscopy and in December, 2005 the LHIRES III spectrograph came out.

Then in 2006 I replaced the Dall-Kirkham telescope with a Meade 16” LX200R. This telescope has all the capabilities to do serious work.
I abandoned photometry and now focus on spectroscopy.

I no longer need the Starlight-1. If anyone is interested in purchasing it you can contact me at my email address given in the Homepage.

Every once in awhile someone needs the manual for the Starlight-1. I have had about three requests over the years, but none after
the last person asked for one. If you would like a copy it can be downloaded at Starlight-1 Manual.
